Tasting Date: 14/7/2017

Tasting Time: 2300

Tasting: Neat

Nose:

Typically Springbank-ish nose. Minty, very mineral, sea breeze. That typical saltiness that make Springbank my favourite is very obvious here. Liquorice or Hacks sweets, perhaps premium Hacks! Some hint of lemon notes, wood dust. Pretty earthy. I love the mineral note of this whisky. I felt like I was nosing a sandy stone at the Campbeltown sea side. Salty fish notes becomes more apparent after a tiny sip. Some sweet wood appear after a while. Very complex. Bacon. Tin Fatt Yao. Dusty old cardbox where you store in a corner for a very long time. / 23.5

Palate:

The good things on the nose continues here on the palate. Hint of sweetness interweaving with the mineral and saltiness. Premium liquorice. Some citrus fruits note. Pretty fresh palate. Crisps and soft on the tongue. / 22.0

Finish:

Mineral mineral and mineral. With some lemony, bitter oranges, wide range of nuts. Very complex. / 18.0

Balance:

Not overly smoky, and a very complex nose and palate. Perhaps I left it opened for too long? Maybe. / 20.0

Price:

It's considered a very cheap 18YO in the market, but it's not a cheap bottle from Springbank. / 4.0

Final Verdict:

A solid Longrow, which can beat any other 18YO standard bottling. Perhaps I should have rated it when I first opened the bottle. At this price, this might be the best 18YO you can get at this price range. / 87.5
