Tasting: Neat
Nose:
Very intense sour plum notes which I like it very much. Some peppery wood notes. Quite peppery actually. Premium dark chocolate, those above 80% cocoa content. Dried fruits, dried figs, dried plum. Lovely dried fruit sweetness. Yummy! That PX sweetness comes after approx. 5 minutes. As usual, big and heavy nose from GlenDronach. / 23.0
Palate:
Spirity, dried fruit sweetness, like some dried fruit juice. Peppery. Pretty dry. Dark chocolate again. Some bitter herbs. Quite oily. / 21.5
Finish:
The finish is dry. Again dark chocolate. Some bitter oranges. Not my favorite finish, I expect a lot more from a GlenDronach. / 16.0
Balance:
To me is pretty solid. The nose is very good to me, and the palate can be better. I don't quite like the finish though. But the quality is there. Maybe it's just me. / 20.0
Price:
Bought it cheap in Japan, before GlenDronach's price went up. To me is pretty good value for money. / 4.5
Final Verdict:
I would love this whisky more if the finish is better. Still a very good GlenDronach. If you want to study the difference between Oloroso and PX, this will be the perfect example for a typical PX. Get it only if the price is good. / 85.0
