Nose:
Lovely lovely smoked honey barbecue sauce. Tad bit of ashy-ness. Just nice amount of sweetness lingering well with the peat smoke. A very harmonious nose! Burnt rubber, damped cardboard box. Perfect combo. Some burnt tea leaves. Hint of clinic smell. After about 5 minutes, some Indian spices starting to appear. "Empty room smell". Very complex. / 23.5
Palate:
Oh that fat oily mouth feel. Smoke, ash, pretty sweet. Oh that sweet smoked honey barbecue sauce. Very medicinal. Very powerful palate. Perfect winter dram. Some very sweet prunes. Yummy!!. / 22.0
Finish:
Very smoky finish, some bitterness. Bitter oranges. That smoke just won't go away. / 17.0
Balance:
So much balance in the nose that you kind of forgotten it's a Laphroaig. The peat smoke and the sweetness combines perfectly and gives you that lovely savoury nose. Then it continues on the palate, with that oily, peaty and powerful palate, and ends with a long lasting finish. / 22.0
Price:
It's the best Laphroaig at this price range. / 4.5
Final Verdict:
A complex and powerful Laphroaig, which requires patient to be able to enjoy it fully. This is not an easy whisky. Take your time to discover it. You may need to experiment a little bit to get the best out of this lovely Laphroaig. / 89.0
