Tasting Date: 26/4/2018
Tasting Time: 2200
Tasting: Neat
Nose:
Earthy and smoky, with hints of citrus fruits. Vanilla. Pears. Fairly mineral, seafood smell, seawater. Very Islay, and very Lagavulin. It’s young! / 21.5
Palate:
Nutty, pretty soft like milk, but oily at the same time. Smoky and pretty fiery, as expected from a young Islay malt. Pretty ashy, salty. A very light sweetness, come and go. / 21.5
Finish:
Salty, briny, lemon tea. Little bit of biscuity. Smoke of course. / 17.0
Balance:
Overall the notes on the nose and palate are pretty harmoniously mixed together, and the smoke compliments the others notes beautifully. / 22.5
Price:
It's cheap, and very good quality malt. / 5.0
Final Verdict:
A nice addition to the Lagavulin stable, though it may be too young and fiery for some of the drinkers, but no doubt this is one of the value-for-money malt. It also provides an alternative to the reliable 16. / 87.5
